The Swan Hill District Health Emergency Department redevelopment represents a major milestone in Victoria’s investment in regional healthcare, with a combined $65.7 million contribution from the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments. Serving 35,000 people across a 100 km radius, the facility now provides a fully integrated 143-bed rural health service that meets contemporary clinical and community needs.
The redevelopment more than doubled emergency treatment capacity from seven to fifteen points of care, adding a four-bed short-stay unit alongside expanded medical imaging, assessment, and triage zones. Designed to deliver fast, high-quality emergency care around the clock, the project required mechanical and hydraulic systems that could guarantee continuous hot water and stable heating for all clinical functions, even under peak operational loads.
