Project Overview

161 Castlereagh Street is a premium office tower in Sydney and offers an unrivaled benchmark in modern office space with over 59,000m2 of office and many sustainability features. Awarded 6 stars by The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) which is the highest accolade and is considered world leadership class. Buildings are assessed on many criteria and given a grade from one to six, six being the highest. The voluntary scheme was devised to limit the impact of construction on climate change. In this respect, this building is way ahead of the pack as it has achieved a Zero Carbon rating.

Legion House, located on Castlereagh Street represented an integral part of Sydney’s social infrastructure at the turn of the century. Legion House was originally constructed in 1902 by the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) and operated as a women’s hostel and outreach service for 60 years. The building is heritage listed and protected due to its social significance so it needed some sympathetic restoration to retain its architectural significance.

Grocon has refurbished this historical landmark as part of its current retail and commercial redevelopment at 161 Castlereagh Street, Sydney.

Automatic Heating provided the equipment for the mechanical services Heating & Chilled water systems. The ever-popular Meridian Condensing Boilers provide the high efficiency heating for the project, while the accessories included Stainless Steel Flue Systems, Duraflex Forte Expansion Tanks and Duraflex HydraTwin Hydraulic Separators.
